Gilas Pilipinas 24 man pool for February FIBA Asia qualifiers named
A great mix of PBA veterans, rookies, and cadet members headline the 24-man pool of Gilas Pilipinas Men for the upcoming 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers 1st leg slated for February 2020.
Bannered by long-time Gilas veteran Marc Pingris, who is likely to take a hands-on mentorship role, the pool consists of the top picks of the recent 2019 PBA Draft Isaac Go, Mike Nieto, Matt Nieto, Rey Suerte, and Allyn Bulanadi.
Headlining the amateur cast are Javi and Juan Gomez de Liano, Kobe Paras, Thirdy Ravena, Justine Baltazar, Dave Ildefonso, Dwight Ramos, and Jaydee Tungcab.
Joining Pingris in the veteran cast are Kiefer Ravena, Poy Erram, RR Pogoy, Ray Parks, CJ Perez, Japeth Aguilar, Christian Standhardinger, Mac Belo, Matthew Wright, and Troy Rosario.
The Philippines, which is grouped with Thailand, Indonesia, and Korea, will open the 1st leg against the Thais at home on February 20 before traveling to Indonesia to face them on February 23.
The top 3 countries in each group of the qualifiers advance to the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 for a chance to win an Asian basketball gold.
