Winona Ryder Would Do A ‘Beetlejuice’ Sequel If It’s With Michael Keaton And Tim Burton
Winona Ryder was only in her teens when she starred in the comedy movie “Beetlejuice,” alongside Michael Keaton, Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin. Now at 44, the actress said she would love to do a sequel, but only if this involves Keaton and the original director, Tim Burton.
“Obviously, it was an iconic film. The only way it could really ever be done is with Tim and Michael,” the actress said via Collider. But she also admitted she really doesn’t know if there are any plans for a “Beetlejuice sequel. Talks about a revival has been afloat for years, especially after Burton said in an previous interview that it had potential and he has a script.
However, like Ryder, Burton only wants Keaton in the titular role. “There’s only one Beetlejuice, and that’s Michael,” said Burton per Daily Mail.
“Beetlejuice” is actually an obnoxious ghost who tries to scare off the other ghosts that’s driving the new residents of a house. The family is Ryder’s character’s family. The film has been iconic and has been cited as one of the best horror comedies to ever be made. The sequel was hatched as early as the 90s, but by then Keaton was committed to doing a slate of “Batman” films.
Ryder has always expressed her wanting to be part of the sequel early on. But like the movie’s cult following, she’s just waiting for this to happen.
