NBA: Has Vince Carter played his final game?

Future Hall of Famer and 22-year NBA veteran Vince Carter may have played in his final game as a professional basketball player.

Carter checked in late in the 4th quarter of his Atlanta Hawks’ home battle against the New York Knicks, which they lost, 136-131.

With the NBA suspending the league indefinitely following concerns over the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, Carter said it was a weird way to call it a career — should it indeed be his final game.

Carter hit a triple immediately upon checking in, as fans inside the Hawks’ homecourt roared.

Such a weird night but I am truly thankful for each and every person during this 22yr journey.

“It’s a weird way to say I am calling it a career,” said Carter in his post-game interview, adding that at the very least, he made his final shot.

“This is a weird but cool memory … This is it. It ended like that.”

The 2000 dunk champion added that although there might still be 15 or 16 games for him left to play, he is fine with the league suspending games for now.

“Basketball has been good to me. I enjoyed every moment of it, good and bad,” said Carter.

“If this is it, it’s all good. At least I made my last basket.”

Carter, the only player in history to play in four different decades, is an 8-time NBA all star. He has career averages of 16.1 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 3.1 APG.

He played for the Toronto Raptors, New Jersey Nets, Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings, Memphis Grizzlies, and Orlando Magic.
