The CW Developing Louisa May Alcott’s ‘Little Women’ Into A TV Series
Talks are brewing between The CW and Michael Weatherly about the possibility of adapting “Little Women” into a TV Show. The 1868 novel written by Louisa May Alcott is a well-loved classic and the network hopes that the adaptation will be “hyper-stylized” and “gritty”.
“Little Women” features half-sisters, Jo, Beth, Meg and Amy in this unusual coming of age story. Set in dystopian Philadelphia, the theme features romance, drama and suspense.
Weatherly, who is part of the show “NCIS” as an actor will produce the series under Solar Drive Productions while Alexis Jolly will pen the script, according to Deadline.
“Little Women” has had different adaptations in the past, including a movie that starred Winona Ryder and Christian Bale in 1994. The were also TV adaptions already in the ’80s, while a potential series inspired by the story, but with a modern take, failed to move on after the development process.
If this will progress with this talks, the show will be included in The CW’s Fall 2016 slate.
