SHFC expands housing program with P14.5 million aid for Filipino communities

The Social Housing Finance Corporation continued its push for accessible housing after turning over more than P14.5 million in SHFC housing assistance to communities in Quezon Province and Cagayan under the Enhanced Community Mortgage Program. The initiative forms part of the government’s broader strategy to provide secure and affordable housing options for Filipino families.

The funding turnover, held on April 22, reflects ongoing efforts aligned with the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program, which aims to address housing needs nationwide. Through this program, communities are given the opportunity to secure land ownership and achieve long-term residential stability.

Communities secure land ownership through ECMP

In Barangay Gadu, Solana, Cagayan, the Ibay Homeowners’ Association received more than P3.5 million to acquire the land where their homes currently stand. The assistance ensures that residents gain legal tenure and protection, strengthening their claim to the property and providing peace of mind for the community.

The turnover ceremony was led by SHFC officials and representatives from the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, highlighting the collaborative effort between agencies in implementing housing programs. The event underscored the importance of coordinated action in delivering support to grassroots communities.

Meanwhile, in Tagkawayan, Quezon, the MSGR. Eddie L. Eleazar Homeowners’ Association was awarded more than P11 million, including a grant that covers documentary processing costs. The funding supports over 200 families, helping them move closer to formal land ownership and improved living conditions.

Government ramps up nationwide housing efforts

SHFC officials emphasized the importance of accelerating the distribution of assistance to approved projects across the country. The agency reiterated its commitment to ensuring that qualified communities receive the support needed to secure land and establish stable housing arrangements.

So far, SHFC has released funding to 10 communities for land acquisition and approved 45 projects nationwide, with these initiatives expected to benefit more than 7,700 families. The continued rollout of assistance reflects the government’s broader push to address housing gaps and improve living standards.
