Kaspersky expands kids cyber resilience project to new regions, empowering youth in digital safety
Kaspersky is broadening the reach of its Kids Cyber Resilience Project to equip young people with essential cybersecurity skills. Initially launched in Singapore in March 2023, the initiative has already made strides in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, covering countries such as the Philippines, Malaysia, and India. The project is now expanding to Vietnam, and making its debut in the Middle East and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), aiming to promote a safer digital experience for children and teenagers.
Educating Children and Communities About Digital Safety
The Kaspersky Kids Cyber Resilience Project is an educational initiative aimed at raising awareness about online threats. It is designed for children, parents, educators, and NGOs, offering practical knowledge on digital hygiene, online security, and responsible technology use. Through interactive workshops, online courses, and other activities, the program teaches participants to identify cyber risks and build resilience in an interconnected world.
With rapid digital growth in Vietnam and increased concerns over cybersecurity among young internet users, Kaspersky has partnered with the Vietnet Information Technology and Communication Center (VIETNET-ICT) and the Thai Nguyen Department of Education and Training. On October 26, 2024, a Cyber Resilience Training program for teachers will be held to empower Vietnamese educators with tools and knowledge to create a secure digital environment for students and themselves.
Expanding Cyber Resilience Efforts to the Middle East and CIS
The Kids Cyber Resilience Project is also making its first appearance in the Middle East. As digital transformation accelerates across the region, the need for cybersecurity education grows. Kaspersky, in collaboration with Egypt’s Information Technology Institute, will conduct a workshop for parents in Cairo. This workshop will address topics such as online safety, data protection, privacy risks on social media, and recognizing misinformation, all crucial in today’s digital landscape.
Kaspersky plans to extend the initiative to Russia by the end of the year. The project will engage local schools and communities to strengthen cybersecurity awareness and practices among young people.
Key Areas of Focus: Online Safety, Cyberbullying, and AI in Education
The program covers a range of critical topics to help children and teenagers stay safe online. Participants will learn to:
- Recognize phishing scams
- Avoid harmful websites
- Secure their social media profiles
- Practice safe gaming and content sharing
- Prevent cyberbullying
- Manage digital privacy
In addition to offline activities, the initiative’s online component introduces a global training program, “How to Make AI in Education Work for the Good.” The course is designed for K-12 teachers and parents to help them understand AI tools, navigate their safe use, and leverage them for educational purposes. This training is led by AI experts in collaboration with the Kaspersky Academy.
