NBA: Lakers poised to repeat, Giannis to win 3rd straight MVP – GM survey

The reigning NBA champions Los Angeles Lakers have been picked by 81% of general managers in their recent survey to repeat as title winners in the 2021 season.
The only other teams to receive votes in this question are the Los Angeles Clippers (11%), Brooklyn Nets, and Miami Heats.

In addition, 86% of GMs think the Lakers will top the Western Conference anew.

The Lakers made some impressive roster moves as they bid for a repeat, adding Marc Gasol, Montrezl Harrell, Wesley Matthews, and Dennis Schroder.

Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks are poised to top the Eastern Conference again according to 65% of GMs.

The biggest difference is that this year, most GMs think the Brooklyn Nets will place 2nd in the conference because of superstars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving seeing action once again.

When it came to the question on who will win season Most Valuable Player, 32% think Giannis Antetokounmpo will win. That will be the 3rd straight plum for the ‘Greek Freak’ should he end up taking home the trophy.

Dallas Mavericks rising star Luka Doncic received 21% of the votes.

Both Antetokounmpo and Doncic meanwhile were tied for 1st spot (43%) when it came to the question about best player to start a franchise with.
