Mark Magsayo Next Fight Won’t Be Easy vs. Replacement Opponent Hermosillo

It took a while but Mark “Magnfico” Magsayo heaved a big sigh of relief. Following the untimely retirement of Jose Haro, the undefeated Filipino boxer finally has a new opponent in Rigoberto Hermosillo.
“Malaking ginhawa po kasi ready na po ako ang team ko,” Magsayo said in an exclusive interview.
Both pugs will face off in the main event of FS1 PBC Fight Night on October 4 (October 5 in Manila) at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
The pride of Bohol is raring to take the ring and earn his first win under MP Promotions. He faces the 28-year-old boxer who hails from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico who holds and 11-2-1 record, eight coming from knockouts.
Also, Hermosillo is coming off two boxing losses. He lost to Manny Robles III on May 5, 2019, via split decision and lost again on November 23, 2019 to Viktor Slavinskyi via unanimous decision per Boxrec. His last taste of victory was against Ernesto Guerrero on July 6, 2018 via KO.
Though he has been training for quite some time now, Magsayo feels that odds are still even between him and Hermosillo.
“Sa tingin ko, pareho lang kasi nag-training din kalaban natin. Mas gusto ko lang ang panalo kasi matagal ko na itong hinihintay,” he said.
Magsayo added that it was his promoter who chose his opponent and that he has already seen his opponent in action.
“Napanood ko din ang laban niya. Magaling siya at pasok ng pasok. Excited ako dahil magandang laban ito. Gagawin ko ang lahat ng makakaya ko para makapgabigay ng magandang laban,” Magsayo quipped.
It has been more than a year since the 25-year-old entered the ring. It was on August 29, 2019 when he faced Panya Uthok of Thailand, winning via unanimous decision to cop the WBC-ABC featherweight title.
