PBA: Tenorio wants Cone to win All-Filipino title for Ginebra

Just moments after winning the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup title – Barangay Ginebra’s 3rd in the last 4 seasons – LA Tenorio has issued challenge for head tactician Tim Cone.

“We got to win in the all-Filipino,” the veteran point guard told Cone, per an online sports news website, adding that he has not won a Philippine Cup title in all his years as a PBA pro.

The same thing can be said about Cone’s tenure for Barangay Ginebra.

While he has steered the franchise to 4 titles overall, turning the squad into one of the best teams in the past decade, Cone still hasn’t delivered an all-Filipino crown to the barangay.

And the winningest mentor in PBA history vows to end that drought.

“We are certainly going to go for it,” said Cone.

The closest Ginebra got was during the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup when it got to the championship round but were dominated by San Miguel.

But now, Cone thinks the squad can dethrone the 5-time reigning champions.

“We feel like we have the tools. We are going to have a substantial break so we will be able to kinda recharge our batteries and get keyed up for the all-Filipino.”
