ABL: Alab bounces back, edges OJ Mayo-led Fubon Braves

San Miguel Alab Pilipinas bounced back from a sluggish start and finished strong to beat the Taipei Fubon Braves, 101-96 Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre in Manila.

Jeremiah Gray showed the way for the locals, scoring 17 points while knocking down two huge triples in the clutch, as Alab improved to 5-2 in the team standings and get back to their winning ways in the 2019-2020 ASEAN Basketball League Season.

After Charles Garcia pulled Fubon within 2 with a 3 of his own, 96-94, Gray answered with a dagger triple which pushed the Philippine side up, 99-94 under the final two minutes.

OJ Mayo scored on the other end, but Khalif Wyatt sealed the game with 2 free throws.

All 3 Alab imports scored more than 20 points, with big man Sam Deguara leading the way with 26 points on an efficient 9/11 shooting, and 14 rebounds.

Nick King finished with 22 points, 6 boards, and 5 assists while Wyatt contributed 21, 4, and 4. Gray shot 3/5 from long range.

Fubon led 28-20 after the opening period, but Alab quickly erased the deficit with a 13-4 run to open the 2nd quarter.

Mayo led the Braves, which dropped to 6-4 in the team standings, with 35 points. Garcia adde⁹d 27 markers.
