Gilas Pilipinas won its 1st tune up game in preparation for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games by narrowly-edging ABL club Alab Pilipinas Monday at the Meralco Gym.

June Mar Fajardo’s 21 points led the team as head coach Tim Cone leaned on the 5-time PBA MVP down the stretch.

Gilas and Alab will meet again before the latter flies for its 1st ABL regular season game against Mono Vampire in Thailand.

Meanwhile, all signs point to Kiefer Ravena replacing the injured Jayson Castro in the national team pool, as he attended the tune-up game albeit in street clothes.

Ravena has been great in his comeback, averaging gaudy numbers for the NLEX Road Warriors in the on-going Governors’ Cup.
