‘Gossip Girl’ Star Leighton Meester Joins Comedy Series ‘Making History’

450px-Leighton_Meester_at_CW_Upfront_2009Leighton Meester, who is well known to TV fans for her role as Blair Waldorf on “Gossip Girl,” has landed the lead role in the Fox comedy series “Making History.” The actress will be starring opposite Adam Pally from “New Girl” and “Happy Endings.”

The actress plays Deborah, a woman from the colonial times (1775), whose mindset is miles ahead of her generation. “Making History” is about a group of friends who discover time travel, where they end up living in 2016, but their past still collide with the present with hilarious results.

The actress’ last work on television was “Gossip Girl” and after the show ended nearly five years ago, she’s been busy making movies, getting married and having a baby.

“Making History will be written by Julius “Goldie” Sharpe, with Phil Lord and Chris Miller as creators, per The Hollywood Reporter. It’s set to become part of Fox’s slate for next season, should it receive a series order.
