Watch ‘Game of Thrones’ Star Pedro Pascal In Netflix’s ‘NARCOS’ First Teaser
Netflix’s latest drama series debut is for “Narcos,” which follows the story of drug kingpins and their brushes with the law during the 80s.
The very first teaser features Pablo Escobar (played by Wagner Moura) during the prime of his rule of the Medellin cartel. The show also features Pedro Pascal of the “Game of Thrones” fame, playing the role of Javier Peña, who is with the Mexican Drug Enforcement Agency. In real life, Peña was instrumental in the arrest of Escobar, whom he called the inventor of narco-terrorism.
During Escobar’s reign, he not only oversaw drug sales in the Americas, he also ordered the deaths of thousands of people, thus making Colombia the world’s murder capital.
The series also stars Boyd Holbrook as Steve Murphy, Peña’s partner at the DEA, and a fresh new face in Stephanie Sigman.
“Narcos” is directed by Jose Padilha (“Elite Squad”) and it’s full 10-episode first season offering will be available on the streaming site by August 28.
“Narcos” was first announced as in development back in the spring of 2014 as part of Netflix’s push in the Latin American region. The idea was broached by Eric Newman, the show’s executive producer, and was originally set as a feature film. But because of the richness of Escobar’s story, the team decided to do a series around it instead.
Filming was actually set in Colombia.
