Last Drop unveils massive 1990s Finnish open world in Steam Early Access
Lohkare Games Oy is bringing players back to mid-1990s Finland with Last Drop, its debut open-world story game. Since the public demo nearly a year ago, the title has grown into a sprawling 22 x 25 km world featuring lakes, forests, suburbs, and the city of Nykylä.
The game blends dark humor with grounded survival, letting players explore residential streets, rural roads, and bustling urban centers. Key areas like Seppo’s home suburb, Kuosilampi, are fully explorable, both inside and out, providing a level of detail rarely seen in indie open-world games.

Everyday survival in 1990s Finland
Last Drop focuses on ordinary people surviving difficult circumstances. Players juggle small jobs, relationships, and personal challenges while navigating a world without modern conveniences like minimaps. Instead, they rely on paper maps, memory, and observation, creating an immersive experience faithful to the period.
The world contains over 100 NPCs, swimming mechanics for lakes, and vehicles for both players and city traffic. Professional voice acting accompanies over an hour of cutscenes, and the main story script is fully complete. This combination of narrative depth and environmental authenticity immerses players in a Finland shaped by isolation, water, and long stretches of forested roads.
Community-driven growth and Early Access launch
Since the demo, more than 6,000 players have tested Last Drop and offered feedback that shaped development. Streamers have praised the game’s tone, realism, and dark humor. With over 8,000 Steam wishlists, anticipation is building for the upcoming Early Access release.
Lohkare Games Oy, founded by Timo, Hannes, and Henri, draws on decades of experience in animation, video production, and interactive media. Their debut combines Tarantino-style storytelling with a Kaurismäki-inspired Finnish world, creating a uniquely immersive and narrative-driven indie experience. The Early Access release date will be announced soon.
