76ers injury report: Paul George progresses from knee surgery, joins light drills
Paul George is making significant strides in his recovery, according to the latest 76ers injury report, which revealed that the nine-time All-Star joined light contact drills during team practice on Thursday, October 9. The update offers a positive sign for Philadelphia fans eager to see the veteran forward in action.
George underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in July after sustaining an injury during an offseason workout. He was expected to be re-evaluated before the start of the 2025–26 NBA season.

Paul George joins team drills as recovery continues
Head coach Nick Nurse confirmed that George participated in early portions of practice, marking a step forward in his rehabilitation. Although he has not yet joined full five-on-five scrimmages, the 76ers are gradually reintegrating him into team activities.
“Nick Nurse says Paul George is progressing and he did some of the team’s early portions of practice today (which is new). Not five-on-five, but some five-on-zero. Nurse said he hasn’t ruled out George for the remainder of the preseason yet,” Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice reported.

George has also been involved in one-on-one sessions against Justin Edwards, Kelly Oubre Jr., and Tyrese Maxey, where he reportedly showed “good explosion on offense.”
No timeline set for preseason return
While Nurse has not ruled out the possibility of George suiting up during the preseason, there is still no firm timetable for his return to competitive play. The Sixers are expected to take a cautious approach to ensure he’s fully ready for the regular season.
George’s steady improvement stands out as the 76ers continue to monitor their roster health closely heading into the new campaign. His eventual return will be a major boost for Philadelphia’s revamped lineup under Nick Nurse.
