Chilli Beans. unveil emotional anime ending song Himawari for Hell Teacher Nube reboot
Hot off the release of their latest EP the outside wind, Chilli Beans. continue their musical momentum with the release of a new digital single, Himawari ひまわり, dropped just days later on 25 June.
The track serves as the official ending theme for the highly anticipated reboot of the classic anime Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube (地獄先生ぬ〜べ〜), which began airing on 2 July via TV Asahi’s 24-station national network. The original series, a supernatural cult favorite across Southeast Asia in the 1990s, is making a major comeback, with the new adaptation reviving its beloved legacy of over 30 million manga copies sold worldwide.

A nostalgic slow-burn for a legendary anime
Himawari ひまわり, meaning sunflower, is a deeply evocative track that blends warmth, melancholy, and reverence — perfectly echoing the emotional core of the Nube universe. The song is written, composed, and arranged entirely by the members of Chilli Beans., who describe it as a “new sound” for the band.
“We pictured the feeling of walking home at sunset,” the group shared. “The strength of the teacher is in the sound, and the lyrics express the student’s quiet trust.”
Inspired by the anime’s school setting, Himawari paints scenes of empty twilight hallways, the last bell of the day, and a subtle but powerful emotional bond between protector and pupil. The song balances vulnerability with quiet strength — matching the tone of the anime’s enduring themes.
