Commanders: Disturbing Details Emerge On Chase Young Trade To Niners

The Washington Commanders made a surprise NFL trade on Tuesday, sending former top pick Chase Young to the San Francisco 49ers for a third-round pick.

The deal drew interesting considering the Commanders practically gave up the 2020 NFL Rookie of the Year for pennies. But after declining to pick up his fifth-year option, Young was a player due to become a free agent after this season, ESPN reported.

Hence, it appears the Commanders saved themselves the trouble on former Ohio State Buckeye, aware that he would be leaving anyway.

The chance to acquire Chase Young was something that came at the right time. Niners coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch were skimming the market for available players. Young is someone who could help San Francisco, a team that has lost three straight games.

“If we think there is a chance to improve us, we’ll do it,” Shanahan said Monday. “It doesn’t sound like there’s a lot of options out there, but doesn’t mean for sure no. I know we’ll look up that all the way up to the deadline and see if anything changes.”

Chase Young troubles led to NFL trade?

While the separation seemed imminent between Chase Young and the Washington Commanders, it appears there was something more to the move.

The Pro Bowler allegedly developed bad habits and was becoming an undisciplined player according to Mike Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle.

With a new team, it will be interesting if Young can make a difference. The Niners are set to face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, November 12.

San Francisco is a slight favorite to prevail over Jacksonville according to the Action Network.
