After telling listeners to choose themselves, Tegan is daydreaming about who comes next. The Hawaii-born singer swaps the self-love message of her solo debut for romantic thoughts and imagined futures on her second digital single, “Daydream.”

The track blends nostalgic pop with a dreamy atmosphere and arrives with a music video where quirky creatures inhabit a world between fantasy and reality. Tegan, who playfully describes herself as “one year old” in Japan after moving there, is still finding her feet.

Hawaii-born singer Tegan follows her July solo debut “I choose me” with “Daydream,” a second digital single that explores romance and imagined futures.

Inside Tegan’s Dreamy New Single

The release follows Tegan’s solo debut “I choose me,” which came out in July with a message of self-love and staying true to yourself rather than meeting other people’s expectations. If that song was about choosing yourself, “Daydream” explores what comes next.

The song imagines time with someone special, pictures the person one hopes to become and lets listeners dream about the possibilities ahead. Its lyrics leave room for listeners to bring their own experiences and hopes.

Light beats and a memorable melody meet Tegan’s warm, husky vocals, pairing a nostalgic pop sensibility with a soft, otherworldly atmosphere. The result is an easygoing track suited to a quiet moment of reflection or a spontaneous urge to move to the beat.

In the music video, time moves slowly, and dream and reality overlap, with a cast of cute but slightly surreal creatures. It continues the playful visual style introduced in “I choose me,” giving Tegan’s creative universe its own curious characters.

Tegan’s Journey From Hawaii to Japan

Born and raised in Hawaii to a family with Japanese-American and European roots, Tegan began her music career in 2015 as part of the ukulele duo Tegan & Kaylen. She joined after passing avex’s Hawaii audition.

In 2018, she performed at Fuji Rock Festival and was billed as the festival’s youngest-ever artist at the time. She later resumed her artistic activities in 2024 following an appearance on Chuang Asia 2024 in Thailand.
