Prince’s Body For Autopsy Friday, Rock Star Honored With Purple

The body of rock superstar Prince, who died in his home at the age of 57 Thursday, would be scheduled for an autopsy Friday. Police stated that they found him in the elevator of his studio and medical personnel tried to administer CPR, but he was unresponsive. The cause of death remains unknown.

Two weeks before his death, the “Purple Rain” singer had been complaining about his health, prompting the cancellation of his shows in Atlanta, per Time. Days after his death, Prince was rushed to the hospital after landing in Minneapolis. His reps said that he had been sick with flu, but was later discharged.

All over the world, tributes to Prince were done following news of his death. Buildings, public establishments and tourist sites, such as the Minnesota baseball stadium the Niagara Falls, lighted in shades of purple, the rock star’s signature color. MTV’s website also changed its logo to purple and had the words, “Purple reign is over,” per BBC.
