Play Smash Bros. Like It’s 2001: Battle Dock Drops in Europe
KARLSTAD, Sweden — Fans of GameCube-style controllers have a new way to play on Nintendo Switch 2. Game Outlet Europe said Sept. 17 that the Retro Fighters Battle Dock is available across Europe, with four wired controller ports on the front.
Game Outlet Europe is an independent distributor of video games and accessories. Family-owned Retro Fighters, known for its retro-inspired controllers, built the dock with four-player fighting games in mind.
Switch 2 Dock Brings Four GameCube Controller Ports
The Battle Dock connects to the console through USB-C. Four wired GameCube controller ports sit on the front, so up to four players can jump in without wireless pairing.
According to Game Outlet Europe, players slide the console into the dock, plug in their controllers and start playing. There is no complex setup.
The company says the wired ports are ultra low-latency, so players can no longer blame lag or dropout for a loss. That adds a new level of skill to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate matches.
Wireless fans are covered, too. The dock works with Wavebird wireless controllers and BattlerGC wireless controllers, as well as wired GameCube-style controllers.
Battle Dock Price, Colors and Where to Buy in Europe
The dock is styled after the GameCube console. It comes with four swappable magnetic faceplates in Spice Orange, Indigo, Jet Black and Platinum Silver.
Two extra USB-C sockets sit on the rear of the dock. Retro Fighters says the design adds ports without risking the safety or integrity of the Switch 2 console.
The Battle Dock has an MSRP of €39.99 or £34.99. As of Sept. 17, it was available from Amazon UK, Amazon Germany and Amazon Italy, with Amazon Spain and Amazon France coming soon, plus other leading retailers.
