Nitro Deck 2 Launches With Switch 2 Support, Zero Drift Tech
CRKD has officially begun shipping the Nitro Deck 2 worldwide, bringing native support for the Nintendo Switch 2 alongside a major upgrade the company says will eliminate stick drift for good. It calls the new controller the successor to the original Nitro Deck.
That first-generation controller became one of the most popular third-party accessories built for the Nintendo Switch. The new model is fully backward compatible with the original Switch and Switch OLED, bridging multiple hardware generations.
CaptiStick Technology Aims to End Stick Drift for Good
The standout upgrade is CRKD’s new CaptiStick Technology, which replaces Hall-Effect sensors with capacitor-based thumbsticks. CRKD says the change eliminates stick drift entirely while shielding against electromagnetic interference.
The capacitor-based sticks also offer adjustable resistance so players can tune the feel to their liking. CRKD says the technology draws ultra-low power as well, which it claims helps extend the console’s battery life during long play sessions.
CRKD also redesigned how the controller attaches to the console. Instead of slotting the tablet into place as with the original Nitro Deck, the Nitro Deck 2 extends around the Switch and locks in with a rear dial for a secure fit.
CRKD says the new locking mechanism reduces the risk of damage to the console compared with the original design. An included legacy adapter keeps the Nitro Deck 2 compatible with the first-generation Switch and Switch OLED.
Redesigned Controls and Ergonomics Round Out the Upgrade
Ergonomics have also been reworked, with an offset right thumbstick meant to feel more natural in hand. The outer shell now features sculpted contours designed to improve comfort during extended gaming sessions.
The Nitro Deck 2 keeps the programmable back buttons from the original model. It also adds new L2 and R2 shoulder buttons, expanding customization options for competitive and casual players alike.
Triggers have also been upgraded to smooth, tactile digital triggers. The kickstand is now made from durable metal as well, improving stability during handheld or tabletop play.
Beyond Switch and Switch 2, the controller functions as a wireless or wired controller for PC, mobile devices, and smart TVs. That lets players keep using it even when the console itself is docked.
Nitro Deck 2 is part of CRKD’s True Collection System, letting owners tap their phone to reveal a rarity rank and register the product. The companion CRKD CTRL app also offers remapping, calibration, and firmware update tools.
The Nitro Deck 2 is available now at crkd.gg for $99.99, with select colorways also sold on Amazon. It ships in four colors, including a limited-edition collaboration with Limited Run Games, while supplies last.
A hardshell carry case is priced at $39.99. CRKD says swappable D-Pad and stick top packs will run $19.99 each once they become available.
