SHDA National Convention Eyes Bold Fixes for Housing Industry
The Subdivision and Housing Developers Association will hold its 34th National Developers Convention on September 16 to 17, 2026, at the Marquis Events Place in Taguig City. The gathering will bring together developers, lawmakers, and regulators.
Themed “Elevate: Sustaining Progress through Collaboration and Strategic Housing Innovations,” the convention aims to tackle policy bottlenecks and financing gaps facing Philippine housing. A key agenda item is the review of the Housing Roadmap.
That roadmap was co-developed by a University of Asia and the Pacific research team led by former president Dr. Winston Conrad Padojinog, in partnership with SHDA and other housing groups.
Government, Industry Leaders Set to Tackle Policy Roadblocks
Government speakers will headline several key sessions, led by Sen. JV Ejercito, a current member and former chairperson of the Senate Committee on Urban Planning, Housing, and Resettlement, who will address legislative directions affecting the sector.
Other resource speakers include Department of Economy, Planning, and Development Social Development Staff Director Girlie Grace Casimiro-Igtiben and Bureau of Internal Revenue Deputy Commissioner Atty. Larry Barcelo.
Anti-Red Tape Authority Deputy Director General Dr. Lea Grace Salcedo will discuss efforts to streamline government processes, while Pag-IBIG Fund Business Development Head Fermin Sta. Teresa Jr. will present financing partnerships for developers.
The Department of Agrarian Reform will also join the discussions, with Adjudication Board Member III Asec. Atty. Rolando S. Cua addressing land conversion and clearance processes.
National Water Resources Board Executive Director Dr. Sevillo David Jr. will separately cover water-access regulations, rounding out the regulatory portion of the program.
Officials Say Convention Aims to Deliver Concrete Action
SHDA Assistant Corporate Secretary and 2026 Convention Overall Chair Clarissa De Joya said the event aims to bring together key sectors shaping the housing ecosystem. She added that organizers want delegates to leave with practical strategies for developers.
SHDA Chairman Engr. Francis Richmond Z. Villegas said the convention reinforces the group’s role as a policy partner, noting that it reflects SHDA’s continuing role in shaping policies that support a sustainable housing industry for Filipinos.
SHDA National President Kerwin V. Padua added that the event is designed to produce real outcomes, saying it brings together “the people, the discussions, and the platform to move the housing agenda forward.”
Day two will shift toward market intelligence, opening with insights from Philippine Institute of Development Studies Vice President Dr. Marife Ballesteros on evolving housing demand and demographic trends.
Creative and design perspectives will follow from GIGIL Founding Partner Badong Abesamis, Plus 63 and Hydra Design Group Co-Founder Dan Matutina, and PGAA Creative Design Principal Archt. Paulo Alcazaren.
The convention will conclude with the adoption of Convention Resolutions, formal recommendations meant to guide policy directions. An official Fellowship Night on September 16 will also let delegates network with industry peers and government partners.
