Super Bowl 54: Mahomes delivers as Kansas City Chiefs end drought
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes proved to be instrumental as he delivered a Super Bowl title to the Kansas City Chiefs for the 1st time in 50 years at the Super Bowl 54 in Miami, Florida.
Mahomes, the league MVP last year, became Super Bowl MVP this time around, helping the Chiefs come from behind and beat the San Francisco 49ers, 31-20 to end a decades-long spell.
The 24-year-old Mahomes also joined an elite group as only Ben Roethlisberger and Tom Brady have won both league and Super Bowl MVPs before turning 25 years old.
The Chiefs were down 20-10 in the 4th quarter with still over 6 minutes to go, before Mahomes delivered with a tremendous performance, hitting his teammates for consecutive touchdowns that would change the game dramatically.
He first hit Travis Kelce with 2:44 remaining, before finding Damien Williams for the lead.
Williams then broke away with over a minute left to seal the comeback and hand the Chiefs the win.
Mahomes went 26-of-42 in passes, and 286 passing yards.
