SEA Games 2019: Gilas Men destroy Singapore to open gold medal bid
The Gilas Pilipinas Men’s national team walloped Singapore, 110-58 to jumpstart their gold medal campaign at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games Wednesday at the MOA Arena.
Troy Rosario led 5 players in double figures for the Philippines with his 15 points and 8 rebounds.
Stanley Pringle and Vic Manuel each contributed 14 markers while Matthew Wright and June Mar Fajardo chipped in 13 and 12, respectively.
Gilas opened a sizable advantage as Pringle hit the 1st 8 points of the game followed by exploits fron Wright, who hit 3 outside shots.
Gilas held a 20-point halftime advantage, having 17 1st half assists. The hosts went on to shoot 42% from beyond the arc.
Later in the 4th quarter, Manuel dominated the paint where he scored most of his baskets.
Gilas now joins Vietnam on top of Group A with a 1-0 record. The top 2 teams per group will advance to the knockout semis.
