Thirdy Ravena skips PBA draft to focus on overseas dreams
Three-time UAAP champion Thirdy Ravena will not be joining the next PBA Draft, opting to focus on his overseas career.
Ravena is the latest in the long list of draft prospects like Joshua Munzon and Alvin Pasaol, who have instead chosen different paths.
Like his older brother Kiefer, who had stints with Mighty Sports, Alab Pilipinas, and the Texas Legends (as a Developmental Player), Thirdy seeks to carve his own path and is hopeful to even make it to the NBA.
A report by Spin.ph implied that the younger Ravena will train overseas and perhaps land a roster spot for a foreign club or immerse himself in competition.
Munzon and Pasaol have earlier stated they’ll focus on winning an Olympic berth for Philippine 3×3 basketball.
Not many Filipinos take the less-traveled route as the PBA is always seen as the end goal for a home grown player.
But with players like Kiefer, Japeth Aguilar, Christian Standhardinger, Stanley Pringle, and more recently Kai Sotto choosing to be different, the PBA is given a bit of a challenge as far as landing marquee players are concerned.
