Stick Drift Killer? CRKD’s ULT PRO TMR Controller Hits Stores
CRKD has started shipping the ULT PRO, a wireless controller whose TMR thumbsticks are designed to eliminate stick drift, the company announced. It costs $69.99 and comes with a charging dock and wireless dongle.
Stick drift, when a thumbstick registers movement without being touched, has long frustrated console and PC players. TMR, short for Tunneling Magnetoresistance, is a magnetic sensing technology pitched as a step up from Hall Effect sensors.
ULT PRO Features: TMR Sticks, Triggers and Wireless Connectivity
The ULT PRO works with Nintendo Switch 2, Switch 1, PC, mobile devices, tablets and smart TVs. Players can connect through a 2.4GHz wireless dongle, Bluetooth or a USB-C wired connection.
In PC mode, the controller supports a 1000Hz polling rate for low-latency wired play. A platform slider switches between connected devices, and USB-C wired mode lets the controller charge while in use.
Each trigger uses Hall Effect sensors and can toggle between a short, tactile bump and a longer-travel feel. The triggers can be set independently, and they act as digital inputs on Switch but analog inputs on PC.
ULT PRO Price, Battery and Customization Options
The ULT PRO has an integrated rechargeable battery and ships with a charging dock, cable and wireless dongle. It can also run on standard AA batteries, and a spare battery pack, sold separately, can charge in a hidden dock compartment for hot swapping.
Six extra remappable inputs — four rear buttons and two shoulder-zone buttons — can be set up in-game or in the CRKD Companion App. The controller also offers profile presets, turbo, adjustable rumble and a No Deadzone Mode.
Swappable stick tops and D-pads are sold separately. CRKD’s D-Pad Packs and Stick Top Packs also fit the Nitro Deck 2, and owners can register their controller in the app’s True Collection System.
The ULT PRO comes in Smoke Black with a Switch or PC layout, and in Pal Grey with a Switch layout. The MSRP is $69.99, €79.99, £64.99 or A$129.99, depending on region.
That makes the ULT PRO a notable test for TMR technology at a midrange price. Whether the sticks stay drift-free over long-term use is something only extended play will show.
