Virtual singer KAF is stepping into a louder and more emotionally explosive era with the release of the music video for “School Wars,” one of the centerpiece tracks from her upcoming fifth album “Transcendent Love,” scheduled for release on May 27.

Written and composed by Kanata Okajima, “School Wars” channels youthful frustration into a fast-moving rock anthem layered with emotionally raw lyrics and relentless momentum. The track captures feelings of inner conflict and emotional overload while maintaining an energetic and highly addictive sound.

Surreal school-inspired visuals

The music video was directed by Shota Sakamoto, a visual creator recognized for combining digital aesthetics with experimental animation techniques. His interpretation transforms familiar school imagery into a surreal emotional landscape where reality and memory blur together.

Classroom desks, blackboards, hallways, and traditional school spaces are reimagined through distorted visuals and dreamlike sequences that reflect the emotional confusion explored throughout the song. The result is a visually chaotic but emotionally resonant atmosphere that mirrors the track’s rebellious spirit.

Sakamoto explained that the concept behind “School Wars” was inspired by the invisible emotional pressures facing modern youth today. Rather than portraying school itself as the primary conflict, he wanted to explore the social expectations and online pressures surrounding younger generations.

“Back in my school days, school itself often felt restrictive,” Sakamoto shared. “But today, the enemy may be something far less visible — social pressure, online atmosphere, the invisible expectations created around us.”

He added that the internet itself is not necessarily harmful, but the emotional tension created through constant exposure to invisible judgment and pressure became one of the key themes he wanted to visualize through KAF’s performance.

Choreography fuels emotional energy

Another standout element in the music video is its choreography by KOTARO IDE, the creator known online for combining unconventional humor, expressive movement, and highly memorable visual performances. With more than two million followers, IDE has built a reputation for choreography that feels chaotic yet emotionally grounded.

For “School Wars,” IDE intentionally designed movements that feel awkward, messy, and emotionally spontaneous to match the song’s themes of individuality and emotional honesty. His choreography balances emotional intensity with playful unpredictability, helping create a visual identity that feels both rebellious and strangely relatable.

“When I first heard the song, I immediately felt the emotions and conviction inside it,” IDE explained. “There’s something incredibly powerful about continuing forward as yourself no matter how others see you.”

He described the choreography as an attempt to capture feelings of clumsy determination, youthful invincibility, and emotional rebellion. IDE also praised KAF’s sincerity throughout the performance process, saying her emotional commitment elevated the entire production.

Expanding KAF’s artistic identity

Driven by emotional honesty and explosive energy, “School Wars” stands out as one of the defining songs from “Transcendent Love.” The release signals a bold expansion of KAF’s artistic identity while potentially introducing the virtual singer to a wider global audience.

The song’s fusion of emotionally vulnerable songwriting, surreal visual storytelling, and infectious rock production reflects the evolving direction of KAF’s music as she continues pushing beyond the boundaries of virtual artistry and contemporary J-pop.

With “School Wars,” KAF delivers more than just another digital release. The track becomes a statement about identity, emotional survival, and the struggle to remain authentic in a world shaped by invisible pressures and constant expectations.
