San Miguel Beermen overcome slow start to defeat Blackwater in PBA Governors’ Cup
San Miguel Beermen rallied from a sluggish first half to secure a 128-108 victory over Blackwater in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday. The Beermen, led by imports Jordan Adams and CJ Perez, turned the game around with a dominant third quarter, outscoring Blackwater 38-20.
Adams, who finished with a stellar 50 points and 11 rebounds, and Perez, who added 14 points and 7 rebounds, were pivotal in the Beermen’s surge. Their combined effort helped San Miguel notch their second consecutive win, following a previous 111-107 triumph over Phoenix Super LPG.
San Miguel’s win places them in a three-way tie at the top of Group B with Rain or Shine and NLEX, each holding a 2-0 record. The Beermen will face Barangay Ginebra next, continuing their strong performance in the tournament.
Blackwater, relying on an all-Filipino lineup after import Ricky Ledo’s departure, fought valiantly but ultimately fell to their third straight loss. Troy Rosario led the Bossing with 25 points.
