Gilas Pilipinas: Kai Sotto commits for seniors national team – reports

Filipino basketball sensation Kai Sotto will be playing for Gilas Pilipinas, according to multiple reports Thursday.

The 7-foot-2 center is currently focused on his NBA G-League developmental team Ignite alongside the brightest 2021 NBA draft prospects like Jalen Green and Jonathan Kuminga.

But that does not stop the 18-year-old big from reaffirming his commitment for future national team games.

Sotto has been a veteran in FIBA youth tournaments, both in the Asian and World Cup levels.

As per a report, Gilas consultant Tab Baldwin is looking forward to Sotto’s addition to future rosters.

“You’ve heard Kai, he said he’s going to be available … Obviously, this is step one. We like to think we have every belief that he would there for February, but there are still discussions ongoing.”

The Philippines was recently awarded bubble hosting rights for the 3rd window of the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers which shall commence in February next year.

However, it remains to be seen if Sotto will immediately be playing in the said window where the Philippines might play Korea twice.
