Netflix Unveils ‘Social Distance’ Series With Cast Video
Social Distance is Netflix’s latest pandemic project, the eight-part drama anthology that showcases the resilience of the human spirit in isolation and during a very uncertain period.
Each episode of Social Distance is standalone, displaying the emotional experiences of being forced into quarantine due to the pandemic. The episode will also highlight how humans get through the challenges of keeping in touch and communicating.
Hilary Weisman Graham serves as the showrunner while Tara Herrmann, Blake McCormick, Jenie Kohan and Diego Velasco are the co-executive producers. Social Distance is set to premiere this fall on the streaming platform with a cast featuring familiar actors and their family members.
“Many of these stories required casting actors who were quarantined with other actors. That hurdle seriously hindered our options and so casting non-actors was sometimes essential,” Graham said. “It was definitely a roll of the dice, but thankfully, we were thrilled to discover that talent really does breed talent,” Graham added. “These family members may not have had aspirations to be in front of the camera when we first started, but they should all quit their day jobs immediately.”
