NBA: Raptors’ Nick Nurse named Coach of the Year

Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse has been named 2020 NBA Coach of the Year.

Nurse, who led the Raptors to the 2019 NBA championship, steered the defending champs to a league 2nd-best 53-19 record in the regular season.

He was able to do it even after the departure of reigning Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Under Nurse, the Raptors were the 2nd best defensive team in the league during the regular season, just behind the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Canadian head coach was also able to transform Pascal Siakam into an all-star.

Nurse bested Milwaukee’s Mike Budenholzer and OKC’s Billy Donovan for the distinction.

The Raptors currently have a 2-0 lead against the Brooklyn Nets in the 1st round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
