COVID-19: Philippine students told to stay home, keep away from malls
The Philippines Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Tuesday reminded students to stay home instead of going to malls and other public places as the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the country continued to soar.
The statement was made following the suspension of classes throughout Metro Manila by Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte last Monday.
DILG has directed all Metro Manila Mayors and their respective punong barangays as well as the PNP to keep all students away from malls, movie houses, public markets and other crowded places to stop and contain the spread of COVID-19 in the communities. | via @rongagalac

The DILG has already instructed the mayors of the respective Metro Manila cities and their local government units, as well as the Philippine National Police (PNP) to monitor students and keep them away from malls, movie houses, markets, and other public places to ensure safety.
Students who will be caught loitering will be sent home immediately as a preventive measure.
The number of coronavirus cases in the Philippines rose to 24 in just one week. It was only 3 last February.
Nearby provinces like Cavite and Rizal have also suspended classes in their cities and municipalities.
Infectious diseases specialist Dr. Rontgene Solante also advised students to stay at home rather than taking advantage of the free time to go to malls or hang out with friends.
