Look: PBA schedule for 2020 season released as Philippine Cup opens March 8
The PBA has released the schedule for the upcoming 2020 season which tips off with the prestigious Philippine Cup conference on March 8 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
March 8 festivities will include the Leo Awards, where the top honors will be given to the best PBA players of the previous season, the opening ceremonies, and a showdown between two storied franchises in league history: San Miguel vs Magnolia.
For the conference, the PBA will troop to at least seven venues, including out of town stagings in Balanga, Bataan on March 15, Dipolog City, Zamboanga Del Norte on April 25, and Cagayan de Oro City on May 2.
In a recent online report, PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial also stated that he is eyeing the Rizal Memorial Coliseum and PhilSports Arena as possible venues this conference for the league.
Both venues were refurbished for the 30th Southeast Asian Games hosted by the Philippines last year, so it could be possible that such venues have the capacity to host events with the level of the PBA’s.
Accordingly, eight play dates in the conference do not have venues assigned yet.
The much-anticipated Manila Clasico duel between Magnolia and Barangay Ginebra will commence on May 10, also at the Araneta.
