Gilas Pilipinas: Thirdy Ravena scores 23 in Philippines’ 100-70 win over Indonesia
Ateneo star Thirdy Ravena spearheaded Gilas Pilipinas in the national team’s dominant 100-70 win over Indonesia in the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers Sunday at the Britama Arena in Jakarta.
Ravena had an all-around game, topscoring with 23 points and adding 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks.
The younger Ravena shot 7/14 from the floor and even made 3/4 from 3-point range. His brother Kiefer finished with 10.
Roger Pogoy added 16 markers on 7/11 shooting. Five Gilas players scored in double-digits.
The Philippines padded the lead quarter after quarter, but it was in the 4th frame where they finally broke loose against the home team.
From a 64-53 lead entering the payoff period, Gilas unloaded a 10-0 run to finally put the game away.
Prastawa Dhyaksa was a one-man show for Indonesia, finishing with 28 points. Abraham Grahita added 17 markers.
The Philippines are now 1-0 in the group which includes Thailand and Korea too.
Gilas’ supposed home game against Thailand 3 days ago was postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak, and it will be rescheduled to a later date.
