PBA: Ginebra’s Greg Slaughter taking a break from basketball
Barangay Ginebra big man Greg Slaughter is taking a break from basketball after 6 seasons in the PBA, the big man announced on his Instagram account Saturday.
Slaughter spent all of his 6 seasons with the Gin Kings, being able to provide a solid frontcourt presence en route to winning 4 championships.
“Six years, four championships, a lifetime of experiences and memories. It’s been a fun ride being with this team. I will forever be proud to have played for Ginebra, a dream of mine that came true when they drafted me in 2013,” wrote the 7-foot center, who is now a free agent.
“With that, now that my contract has expired, I’ve decided to take a break to be able to work on myself in all aspects. I may not know what the future holds, but one thing is for sure, the best is yet to come!”
In his last conference with the Gin Kings, the 31-year-old averaged 10.6 PPG, 6 RPG, and 1.5 BPG.
The top overall pick of the 2013 draft, Slaughter has been part of many Gilas Pilipinas teams too, winning 2 SEA Games gold medals and a SEABA championship.
From the tone of his post, it doesn’t seem Slaughter is done with basketball, as he noted his “best is yet to come.”
