FIBA Asia Cup: Jericho Cruz named part of Guam national basketball pool
NLEX Road Warriors guard Jericho Cruz has been named part of Guam’s 24-man national team pool for the upcoming 2021 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers.
Cruz has lived in Guam in the past, and is eligible to play for the national team of the nation should he make the final 12.
While the 6-foot-2 slasher has carved out a good PBA career, Cruz has constantly faced stiff competition for roster spots to Gilas Pilipinas.
Such opportunity might be the golden shot of Cruz to play in the FIBA continental stage.
However, deciding to play for Guam would mean Cruz will relinquish all future opportunities to play for Gilas, as players can only represent one country in international competition permanently under FIBA rules.
Guam, which is in Group C of the qualifiers, faces Hong Kong on February 20th and New Zealand on February 23rd in the 1st window.
