Retooled Alab Pilipinas smothers Mono Vampire for share of ABL lead

The streaking San Miguel Alab Pilipinas used a crippling 4th quarter run to down Mono Vampire, 96-73 Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan and rise to the top of the ASEAN Basketball League team standings.
Sam Deguara towered as the Philippine club opened the 4th frame with 16 unanswered points which sucked the wind out of the Thai side.
Nick King topscored with 24 points and added 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Deguara finished with an efficient 20 points on 8-13 shooting, 10 boards, and 3 blocks.
The victory pushed Alab to 3-1 in the team standings, dealing Mono their 1st loss as they now sport the same record. Alab also avenged their season-opening loss against the Vampire.
Alab looked like the better unit this time, dishing out 25 assists compared to just 13 for Mono.
Coach Jimmy Alapag’s squad also had 26 bench points, and shot 48% overall compared to just 35% for the visitors.
Tyler Lamb had 22 points to lead his club while Mike Singletary added 17.
