SEA Games 2019: Gilas Pilipinas Women come from behind, beat Indonesia
Gilas Pilipinas Women battled back using a strong 2nd half to beat Indonesia, 63-56 in their maiden game in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games women’s basketball Thursday at the MOA Arena.
Frontliners Jack Animam and Kelli Hayes keyed in an uprising for the nationals in the 4th quarter, where the squad used an 15-4 run to take a 59-51 lead.
Teams went tied after the opening quarter, 15-all before Indonesia seized the upper hand in the 3rd quarter.
That was when Animam and Hayes clicked offensively while the rest did their job defensively to get stops and close the game out for the Filipinas.
The Philippines will face Thailand and Malaysia to wrap up their campaign, hoping to win a gold for the 1st time in thr SEA Games.
