Gilas Women no match for Korea in FIBA Olympic PQT
Gilas Pilipinas Women dropped its 2nd contest in a row to a stronger Korean side, 114-75 FIBA Women’s Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament for Asia-Oceania Saturday at The Trusts Arena in Auckland.
A 36-12 1st quarter was all the Koreans needed to establish dominance of the game.
Leeseul Kang had 16 points to lead the balanced attack for Korea, which had 5 players finish in double figures. Jihyun Shin had 15 points.
Korea shot 50.7% from the field overall compared to only 34.1% from the Philippines.
Afril Bernardino did score 20 points for the nationals along with 8 rebounds but needed 20 shots. Janine Pontejos added 17 markers including 3 triples.
