Terrence Romeo still hopeful on Gilas return, just waiting for formal invite

San Miguel Beermen guard Terrence Romeo said he remains open to the possibility of re-joining Gilas Pilipinas Men, for as long as formal invite comes.

Speaking to Courtside Philippines, the reigning PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals MVP said an invite is all he needs to heed the call of duty once again.

Per Courtside Philippines:

“The Commissioner’s Cup Finals MVP was asked about the possibility of once again donning the country’s color, Romeo answered in affirmative.

“Oo naman, basta maimbitahan lang ako ng formal para magrepresent ng country syempre gagawin ko yung best ko para maging qualified ako sa spot ko,” said Romeo after San Miguel Beer’s practice at the Acropolis Gym.”

It’s been a while since Romeo last represented the national team. He was part of the Gilas-Australia brawl last year, which resulted to a personal three-game suspension.

He was not considered for any future Gilas pools throughout the Asian Qualifiers for the recent FIBA World Cup.

Romeo, though, has re-invented his game with the Beermen, averaging 14.8 PPG, 2.3 RPG, and 4.3 APG in the Commissioner’s Cup Finals as he proved to be an integral part of their championship run.

At 27, Romeo still has a lot of years left in his prime, so a return to national team duties could be just around the corner.
