Gilas Pilipinas: Marcus Douthit wants McCullough naturalized next

Former Gilas Pilipinas men naturalized center Marcus Douthit has expressed that recent San Miguel Beermen import Chris McCullough should be the next naturalized player for the country.

Joining the growing number of Twitter fans who want to have McCullough next in line, ‘Kuya Marcus’ himself sent a tweet saying the former NBA pro should succeed him and current big man Andray Blatche.

Douthit played for the Philippines from 2010 to 2015, leading the country to a silver in the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship and a semi-final finish in the 2011 edition.

He also played in two Asian Games and won a gold medal in the SEA Games while suiting up as an import for the PBA.

Blatche is a two-time World Cup participant and was the leading rebounder of the 2014 edition in Spain.

Cleveland Cavalier guard Jordan Clarkson, though having Filipino lineage, also suited up for the Philippines as a naturalized player in the 2018 Asian Games.

McCullough, who led the San Miguel Beermen to the 2019 Commissioner’s Cup title, has also been vocal about his intention and desire to be naturalized and represent the Philippines.
