University of the Philippines and University of Santo Tomas collide in a rematch of last year’s Finals, while Far Eastern University stakes its hold of the lead today (Thursday) in the UAAP Season 81 men’s football tournament.
The Fighting Maroons try to arrest a two-match slide against the Growling Tigers at 1 p.m., while the Tamaraws take on Adamson University at 3 p.m. at the FEU-Diliman pitch.
University of the East and National University clash at 9 a.m.
After opening the season with two consecutive wins, UP struggled against De La Salle and FEU to drop in sixth place with six points.
Currently sitting in third spot with nine points, UST has been doing good so far with Conrado Dimacali and Steven Anotado combining for seven of the España-based side’s 11 goals this season.
Dimacali’s 82nd minute goal – his fourth of the tournament – propelled the Tigers past the Red Warriors, 3-2, last Sunday.
Determined to bring back their lost glory, the Tamaraws are now on top of the table with 11 points on three wins and two draws.
FEU’s young guns shone, with Poi Saldivar scoring three goals, while Jermi Darapan and Gio Pabualan contributing two in the tournament.
The Tamaraws hope to carry the momentum of last Sunday’s 2-1 victory over the Maroons.
For the Falcons, who are running seventh with three points from three draws, getting a breakthrough has been so elusive.
Adamson University hopes to rebound from its worst loss of the season, a 0-4 loss to Ateneo.
