‘Riverdale’ star KJ Apa miraculously survives car crash
Expectations are high for “Riverdale” for its second season and that would require main characters like KJ Apa to work extended hours. In the world of entertainment, there are no set working hours – meaning they work flexibly. However, they are humans too and need proper rest or sleep.
Apa was reportedly involved in a late-night car crash after a hectic 16-hour work day outside Vancouver, Canada according to Hollywood Reporter. The 20-year-old fell alleged fell asleep while driving home and ended up at a local hospital.
Thankfully, Apa came out of the unfortunate incident without any serious injuries. His car bore the brunt of the mishap, the passenger side destroyed after hitting a light pole. Though there were no immediate pictures of his car, the vehicle was technically a wreck.
Calls for safety
Regardless, the whole incident has reportedly sparked protests on the “Riverdale” set. Shootings normally last until the early morning with most needing to go to and from the location on their own. Apparently, there is no transport service given to the actors and such is expected to be discussed this Friday between the cast and Warner Bros. executives.
Cole Sprouse makes right call
With the passenger side of Apa’s car a total mess, it was fortunate that the “Riverdale” star was traveling without a companion. The same report adds that co-star Cole Sprouse, who plays Jughead Jones, was originally set to accompany the 20-year-old at the time. Thankfully, Sprouse had a last-minute change in plans.
Wake-up call
With the latest incident, several stars of the hit TV show are reportedly uneasy with the long hours needed. Discussions set this Friday could tackle a more acceptable working schedule or perhaps see showrunners facilitate better measures for the celebrities going to and from the set.
“Riverdale” is facing some pressure to follow-up its breakout first season. Fans are eager to find out what lies ahead, some of which have been teased through social media.
As far as Apa is concerned, the coming season will see a big change from what most saw from him in the first season. This is likely to be tied up to that Pop’s Chock’lit shop shooting incident which left Fred Andrews (Luke Perry) a bloody mess. How will Archie deal with the incident which is believed to be tied to other conflicts on the show?
Sprouse is expected to have an interesting turn as well. Most saw him make the jump to Southside, something that will likely affect on-screen love interest Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart). New characters are coming in Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos) and Toni Tupaz (Vanessa Morgan). Most of the returning characters have their own storylines, setting huge expectations for the second season which kicks off Oct. 11 on CW.
