Sonequa Martin-Green, best known for her role as Sasha on “The Walking Dead” is coming aboard “Star Trek Discovery” on CBS All Access. She will be a lieutenant commander in the series and the role is a regular. What will this mean for her work on “The Walking Dead”?

Sonequa Martin-Green’s Sasha on “The Walking Dead” has not yet died in the series. As such, her character is expected to return next season, which will begin its run in October 2017.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, production for the next installment of “The Walking Dead” will likely begin in the summer in Atlanta. Meanwhile, work on “Star Trek Discovery” will commence after the holidays. The show is expected to debut on CBS’ streaming platform in May 2017. Thus, given the time schedule, the actress can still do both the series and her character in the zombie series is presumed safe for now at least.

“Star Trek Discovery” has already cast Michelle Yeoh, Anthony Rapp and Doug Jones in November, while Chris Obi, Shazad Latif and Mary Chieffo were also recently added in the slate. The show is expected to beef up CBS’ subscription streaming choices along with “The Good Fight,” the spinoff series to “The Good Wife.”

“Star Trek Discovery” is from Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman along with Roddenberry Entertainment. Fuller was supposed to be the showrunner but he has announced he’s stepping down due to his other commitments with developing “American Gods” with Neil Gaiman for Starz.
