James Franco shared to his followers on his Instagram that his grandmother, Mitzie Vern, has died. She used to appear in some skits her grandson did on “Funny Or Die.”

The actor, 38, wrote the following caption with a photo of himself and her nana as he shared on the social site. “She had a great life. Mitzie Vern, Grandma. Just the best.” He accompanied his short note with heart emojis.

She had a great life. Mitzie Vern, Grandma. Just the best.

Mitzie Verne’s death was also reported on Clevescene, which highlighted how James Franco’s grandmother was passionate about Japanese and Asian art. The actor, who also paints, actually had an exhibit at a gallery called Little Italy in Cleveland years ago. Dubbed The Verne Collection, he could have done the exhibit elsewhere given the actor’s stature, but he chose to honor his grandmother there.

Mitzie Verne was 93 years old when she died.
