NBC_Peacock_logo_2013.svgTelevision is giving a special tribute to James Burrows, esteemed TV director, in tonight’s NBC special called “Must See TV: An All-Star Tribute to James Burrows,” which airs 9/8 p.m.

Burrows, who has done more than 1,000 episodes in his career, will be given tribute by the stars of “Cheers,” “Friends,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “Frasier” and “Will & Grace,” among others, reuniting cast members for this once-in-a-lifetime TV affair. Also expected to be at the special is Charlie Sheen, whom Burrows directed on “Two and A Half Men.”

“Cheers” — Ted Danson, Shelley Long, Bebe Neuwirth, Rhea Perlman, John Ratzenberger, George Wendt (pre-taped: Kirstie Alley, Woody Harrelson)

The special was taped ahead in January and capped off with a party in honor of the director.

“There is nobody with better TV comedy instincts than Jimmy Burrows, and because of his guiding hand these remarkable shows will be forever celebrated and stand the test of time,” said NBC executive Paul Telegdy, via Just Jared. “The caliber of talent joining us to celebrate Jimmy’s accomplishments is a testament to his imprint in television history.”
