Emily Blunt The Next Mary Poppins? Disney in Talks with Actress (Report)
Emily Blunt is reportedly the top pick to star in Disney’s upcoming sequel to “Mary Poppins,” The Hollywood Reporter cites.
With Rob Marshall already on board to direct the revival, the project should become a reunion of sorts betwen the actress and the director. Blunt worked with Marshall in “Into The Woods,” which was released in 2014.
The new “Mary Poppins” is going to be set 20 years after the events of the 1964 film that starred Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke. It will be based on succeeding books that P.L. Travers wrote about the iconic character.
The project was first announced in the fall of 2015 and it’s release date has yet to be set.
Meanwhile, as negotiations are ongoing, Blunt will be seen next in Universal’s sequel to “Snow White” with Chris Hemsworth. “The Huntsman: The Winter’s War” will be in theaters April 22 and Blunt is playing one of the royal sisters.
