‘Supergirl’ on CBS Releases Digital Comic Book Series Tie In
CBS’ perky and likable superhero “Supergirl” will be embarking another new adventure. This time, the character will be featured in a digital comic book series called the “Adventures of Supergirl.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the online comic book will be out for 13 weeks every Monday beginning January. The stories will be written by Sterling Gates, who has written about the character since 2008. Illustrations to the digital comic book will be executed by a host of well-known artists in the industry like Jonboy Meyers, Emma Vieceli, Emanuela Lupacchino and “Batgirl” artist Bengal. The latter will be “penciling, inking, and coloring the first three chapters,” according to IGN. The news outlet also indicated that the digital comic books won’t actually have tie-ins to the TV show on CBS.
Several shows have already done digital comic book tie-ins in the past, more recently “Arrow” and “The Flash” on The CW have had their comics released online to the delight of its viewers. But as THR reported, “Supergirl’s” version will not be published on print as soon as the digitals are out. Instead, it will be collected and printed as a graphic novel after all the issues have been released.
Watch out for the digital comic book for “Supergirl” by January 25, 2016. Meanwhile, the TV has just aired its finale for the winter season this week and will return on television after the holidays.
“Supergirl” airs every Monday nights at 8 p.m. on CBS and stars Melissa Benoist as the young female superhero.
