‘The Good Wife’ Replaces Kalinda with New Male Investigator Played By Jeffrey Dean Morgan
A former “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Supernatural” actor is joining CBS’ “The Good Wife” Season 7 for the fall.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan has signed on to the critically hailed legal drama series starring Julianna Margulies to play the new investigator. He’s replacing Kalinda Sharma, who was played by Archie Panjabi. Panjabi decided to bow out of the series last season.
Morgan’s new role is named Alex, described as “a calm, experienced hourly investigator” who has been hired by Alicia to her firm.
“We’ve loved and admired Jeffrey Dean Morgan for years, and we were thrilled to hear that Julianna did too, so it was a no-brainer to ask him to join our troupe,” said showrunners Robert and Michelle King in a press release, according to US Weekly.
He has signed on as a series regular.
Aside from starring in the two series already mentioned, Morgan was also in shows like “Extant” and “Magic City.” In fact, “Extant,” a sci-fi series which stars Halle Berry, is still airing this summer, but his commitments to this show and “The Good Wife” won’t be hampered as the sci-fi show only has 13 episodes of filming every season, according to Deadline.
It has been rumored that this will be “The Good Wife’s” final season, however, CBS boss, Nina Tassler once said, “As long as they want to continue producing and writing, we love having that show on our air and are very proud of it,” according to E!
The show remains one of CBS’ most nominated series and does decently at the ratings on Sunday nights.
Season 7 returns on October 4.
