Event Series ‘Wayward Pines’ Premieres Early On FOX Tonight; Online Access Follows
Ahead of its May 14 launch, “Wayward Pines,” the psychological thriller from M. Night Shyamalan, is set to debut at midnight on TV tonight, as well as online and in other outlets.
The decision to air the show one week before its actual launch is FOX’s way of drumming up interest for the event series. Starring Matt Dillon, the story follows a Secret Service agent (Dillon) looking for his two other colleagues who have mysteriously vanished. His search leads him to Wayward Pines, a small town in Idaho, where he comes across characters played by Juliette Lewis, Terrence Howard, Carla Gugino and Hope Davis. The show, directed by Shyamalan, is adapted from a best-selling book written by Blake Crouch.
The advance premiere will be at 12 a.m. (ET/PT) on television, but viewers who may miss this can watch the first episode immediately afterwards on Fox on Demand and also from a host of providers like DirectTV, Time Warner Cable, XFinity and Cablevision.
Via the digital platform, the first “Wayward Pines” episode will begin streaming by 12 p.m.(PT) Friday on Fox.Com, Hulu and the Wayward Pines Facebook Page. It can also be accessed via Amazon Instant Video, Google Play and XBox Video.
The official launch of “Wayward Pines” will be on May 14 at 9 p.m. and it will run simultaneously in 126 countries, as it aims to become the “world’s largest day-and-date launch” scripted TV show. The series will run for 10 episodes.
